Principal Page

Dear Peck Elementary School Families,

I am extremely honored to be the principal at Peck Elementary School.  Peck is a great school with a rich history of academic excellence and collaborative partnerships between staff, parents, and the Arvada community.  I have proudly served Jeffco Public Schools since 1997. I want to share with you some of my beliefs about education and why your students are so important to me:

Because I believe in Peck’s Mission Statement that “All students learn everyday, creating a successful future”  …everyday, students will work on challenging tasks to deepen their understanding in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.  Our staff is committed to helping all students develop independence, set personal goals, and make thoughtful choices about their learning.

Because I believe all students are valued and belong in a caring learning will see me greeting every child by name and observing their interactions in their classrooms, at lunch and at recess. Everyday our teachers will engage students in morning meetings to promote social/emotional learning and practice collaboration skills and respectful conversations.

Because I believe in a whole child approach...all students will make academic growth as well as learn what it means to demonstrate Ram PRIDE; Promote and Practice Safety, Respect Self and Others, Imagine Success, Dare to Care, Engage in Learning.

Because I believe in positive behavior supports and that students are learning to interact appropriately...everyday, our staff will teach, model and practice respectful and responsible behaviors with students.  Our students will receive instruction from the Second Step curriculum each week and families will see activities coming home so that you can help reinforce these lessons.

Because I believe literacy is the foundation to all other learning, and that every student should receive high-quality instruction...our staff teaches consistent reading strategies that provide students with multiple opportunities to read a variety of texts, and our kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade teachers as well as our Instructional Coach, Literacy Interventionist and principal are trained in Orton Gillingham a tactile approach to teaching phonics.

Because I believe that great schools are the result of partnerships with families…you will see multiple opportunities throughout the year for families to get involved in their student’s classroom or participate in community events sponsored by our PTA.

I am very excited to serve the Peck Elementary family and look forward to collaborating with you in the coming years.  It is my sincere desire to provide expanded opportunities for all of our students to help them find academic and personal success. I welcome your ideas and encourage you to volunteer whenever possible.  If you have questions, concerns, or would like to hear about more ways to participate in your child’s education, please feel free to contact me at

Thank you for the opportunity to serve our great community,

Deb Pearce
