Your student’s designated testing time was sent home on Friday, August 20. Students assigned to morning testing must arrive by 8:00am and will be released at 10:30am. Our afternoon session is from 11:50am-2:20pm. Upon arrival, students should report to the cafeteria. Please contact your student’s teacher if you have questions regarding your child’s designated testing time.
Modified School Days allow teachers time to test each student individually in the fall and spring to measure growth in reading skills, including accuracy, fluency and comprehension. Results are analyzed to determine individual student’s reading levels and instructional needs.
Your child’s teacher will work one-on-one with students to have them read passages aloud and determine their level for independent reading and instruction to increase academic achievement. After the student reads, the teacher will ask them a series of questions to evaluate their comprehension and what the student can remember through retelling the story. If you’d like, you can help your student at home by reading a book together and asking them questions about the story.
